Darkstalkers - Morrigan [Behind the Scenes] & Pre-order information

The Darkstalkers series, known as Vampire in Japan, was officially announced at Kotobukiya Collection ONLINE 2021 [Winter] with much excitement from the fans, as this is a line that has been highly requested for some time now.

Longtime fans of Shunya Yamashita will be well aware that he has produced art of Morrigan in the past, which only added fuel to the fans flames at seeing this piece brought to life! I mean, if you dig through the internet, you'll see a treasure trove of characters that we'd love to see.

It was then confirmed on Twitter that Kotobukiya would be doing some product development updates for the fans to see via their social channels. This is something we have seen the team do with Pinkie Pie from the My Little Pony line and Scarlett from the G.I. Joe line.

Kicking off on the 8th of May, 2021 - we see the sneak peak of Morrigan's unpainted sculpt.

From the initial images alone, she is looking fantastic and dare I say cheekier than the original illustration?

In June we will see the behind the scenes of the illustrating and sculpting of Morrigan, and in July we'll see the painting aspect.

Part II

In this video, Shunya Yamashita has been interviewed to get his comments on how he brings his fabulous illustrations to life! And how he works alongside SHOGUN, the Product Planner at Kotobukiya on how a final design is decided upon! Ke (comakkow) is the sculptor of this piece, they were also interviewed on how their sculpting process came about.

Part III

Part III gives insight into the painting process of Morrigan, on how they applied the intricate design on her tights, to the detail in her wings. Namoji is a big fan of Shunya Yamashita's work from when they were in high school, so were super excited to be part of the project!

Pre-order Information

The paint master for Morrigan was unveiled at Kotobukiya Collection Online 2021 [SUMMER] on the 29th of August 2021 and the final production video listed on the 30th of August, 2021.

Pre-orders started going live on the 30th of August, 2021. She is slated for release in Japan during March 2022, with an NA release in April 2022. Below you can find a slideshow gallery for the statue, as well as preorder links!
